  • Hi Annilese

I am new to blogging too. Just finished Alan’s video training and also booked an hour’s one-on-one paid consultancy to run through a few areas where I needed help. Posted the first 2 blogs this week!

Haven’t added a booking engine yet…that will come.

Good luck…you have a lovely vacation rental!

So I saw Susan! I guess now I have to find out how to update our PHS…or is that something Siteground automatically does?
      • I think the best way is with the SG Optimiser plugin. In my email SiteGround says:
        “Managed PHP Service
In order to spare you manual PHP updates in the future, we have introduced a new service – Managed PHP. “Managed PHP” means that SiteGround will automatically update your PHP once we are sure there is a newer stable and safe version, which will…

I havent heard from Siteground yet. Will keep an eye out.
        • Big discussion about it in the Facebook Group. It seems that Siteground let’s us know what the news is which as Francis says is often behind the truth. So I guess we just update our PHP as soon as we are able to.

          • Goodness, just as I resurrect my still-incomplete-but-live website with elementor there is something new to learn…exciting stuff!

          • Sorry not to reply earlier to Jenny and Den….my first grandchild arrived a lot earleir than expected, so everything got put on the back burner yet again. Now I am back to relearning everything!

          • Help! I spent all today creating my top 10 on my (already live) website http://www.barnfieldhousekent.co.uk. using  ‘edit in Elementor’ . My additions (new text and photos) went through ok until this evening when I started getting an ‘error 403’ message every time I tried to save. I went back to dashboard then tried again, and found that ALL of today’s…[Read more]

How strange Jenny. It was opening fine on my computer. I have checked with Siteground who comfirm the website is already active, and does have a SSL certificate…they say even if anyone types in ‘http’ they will be redirected to the ‘https’ site instead. SO not sure why you can’t access it…but appreciate your trying!

            Thanks Alan

          • Thanks Alan.

            Tackling the destination stuff today!

          • Thank you for both the question and answer. Another ‘to do’ box ticked!

          • Well at last i have got round to ‘finishing the website. I say this in the loosest sense, as I haven’t actually completed the destination stuff…either the top 10 or the guide! Too many questions right now….like How to change the wording on the horizontal menu items, How to completely remove a section eg Our top 10’! I shall spend time going…[Read more]

          • Thanks Alan. It has taken me this long to readdress the edits. Still haven’t found out how to reinstate the box (there’s no problem with the text). But I will review all the learning modules again before asking ay more questions, to make sure there isn’t an answer already available!

hi Jenny. Hope you’ve recovered well form last week’s op. My website is http://www.barnfieldhouse.co.uk. I thought Siteground had deactivated it at my request til I had finished it, but just discovered it is still active. Sigh. So much to learn!

            • Jennyb I cant get your site to open. Maybe it is deactivated. You have an issue with your domain address, it appears to have no SSL cert it should read HTTPS. Sorry. I know it doesnt help but it is perhaps something that should be addressed before it is activated . Maybe someone else could say more. Where is everybody?

          • Woops….after getting back into adding content to complete the website http://www.barnfieldhousekent.co.uk, I unadvertently deleted the entire header box on the home page. I had wanted to remove the photo and insert plain text instead, but now can’t. Is there an easy way to return the header box, or insert a new text box? iI just want the name of the…[Read more]

          • Help! I seem to have reached an impasse in creating my website, and it is going to be a good few weeks before i am able to tackle it again (am stuck on finding time to complete the destination section). • So I can order within one page. But as i add another testimonial from the past, i can only move it to the bottom of the first page in the dashboard…not the the 2nd which is where it should be . Any ideas please?????

          • Ahhh this is just what I had been asking….thank you Linda.

I had already found nd clocked on the box to allow ‘order’ to rearrange/drag-and-drop, but I cannot follow the final instruction which is ‘set order to menu order in the view’ as i can’t find this!!!!

However it seems that just by clicking on ‘order’ in the ‘all testimonials’ page, a…[Read more]

Under testimonials in that dashboard there are the following sub-heads: all testimonials, add new, categories, views. fields, settings and about. I have read through all of these sub-sections and cannot find anything that would allow me to follow your guidance to ” go to testimonials, view,…[Read more]
