I think the best way is with the SG Optimiser plugin. In my email SiteGround says:
    “Managed PHP Service
In order to spare you manual PHP updates in the future, we have introduced a new service – Managed PHP. “Managed PHP” means that SiteGround will automatically update your PHP once we are sure there is a newer stable and safe version, which will…

Big discussion about it in the Facebook Group. It seems that Siteground let’s us know what the news is which as Francis says is often behind the truth. So I guess we just update our PHP as soon as we are able to.
      • So I saw Susan! I guess now I have to find out how to update our PHS…or is that something Siteground automatically does?

        Just had this from Siteground:
“Your account casatagomago.com is not compatible with PHP 7.1
Unfortunately, we have noticed that your account is not compatible with PHP 7.1 due to an installed theme or plugins. Please see the list of incompatible sites below:”
Among the ones stated is Timber. Any suggestions? Thanks

        • I havent heard from Siteground yet. Will keep an eye out.

            • Hey Guys,

I’ve only just become a full member of the Soup and trying to catch up. Finding the discussions very interesting.

I can see the value of sharing and commenting but am not quite clear on the way Jenny suggests we do so.

              1. When you say “our post pops up on FB feed” I presume you are referring to the VS FB page. Should we say “Thanks for…

Thanks Alan, I experimented and was able to back date it on the Waiter in the same way I would have done on classic editor!

              Thanks for the password.

            • Hello,

I have just published our new website, I am adding the best of my old blog posts to it bit by bit. Can I back date posts on the Waiter? And will they be published for that date or for the present date? I don’t want to “flood ” VS.

I have also noticed that several of these older posts show up in Google, so wish to update to avoid 404…[Read more]

            • Just started back to the forum Katherine, so this may come too late for you. We have just started using Translate Press and on the whole are really pleased with it. We were using Qtranslate -X for ages which is great but not supported anymore so could disappear.

              Susan.

            • Hi Francis,

Not sure this is really the right forum for this but as it’s the most active I thought you should see this. Apologies if this has already been commented on in other forums or groups.

I’ve just received a spam mail from:-

              Owners Community <wordpress@community.vacationsoup.com>

              Which reads thus:-

            • Hi Francis, thanks for the clarification.

I ask about the free version because as my posts syndicate automatically they all have a link to my site on them!!

            • Hi, if we were to sign up for the offer of 2 years for one, how would the credit system work?

And if we just decide to go for the free plan, are we allowed to link to our web site in our posts?

              Many thanks,

            • Thanks, yes it’s a conundrum. I see that the post I updated as a trial yesterday has published with the featured image this time but the title comes up in the 4 versions I write in (this must be to do with the QTranslate-X plugin, obviously not compatible) it also repeats 4/5 times without any of the images I put in the body of the text.

              So at…[Read more]

            • Hi Francis, thanks for your replies. I’ll try the bypass url but I can’t really see how I can use the waiter at the moment. If I post on it in English I would then have to go to the original and translate for the Spanish page, thus updateing and sending duplcates to the Soup. Whereas, as it’s syndicating direct, if I write a post as always,…[Read more]

            • Oh dear, me again Francis. I’m afraid my use of Qtranslate-X for my languages is causing a problem. I’m not using the plugin as I just posted direct on WP and I see the post is published on the Soup but with no featured image (see another thread) and about 5 times one after the other. I didn’t realise it was already syndicating. Now I daren’t re…[Read more]
